Uber's Aggressive Expansion In Australia Due To Increasing Number Of Drivers

Uber impacts the taxi industry in Australia from its growing number of drivers.
The American taxi service provider, Uber, is about to become one of Australia’s biggest employers. Uber news exclaimed that the San Francisco based enterprise is offering rides to more than 1,000,000 Australians and it could soon become the country’s largest employers with more than 20,000 driving partners by the end of the current year. It has gone past organizations, such as Flight Centre and Lend Lease.
Uber news today disclosed that since the beginning of its operations in April last year, the organization has registered more than 15,000 drivers in the Australian territory, which should let it beat its target of employing  20,000 people by the later part of the year, proclaimed in February. General Manager of Uber’s Australian and New Zealand operations has stated that most of UberX drivers have never previously worked as professional drivers, and 45% of the firm’s driving partners belong to areas where unemployment levels have exceeded that of the national levels.
Commercial sources highlighted that the tech-cab service has succeeded most in Victoria, where its driving partners have exceeded the number of 4500. It is probable that the disclosure of the transporter’s growth in the Australian region would not only improve its image in the highly competitive world, but also appease its fans. One could say that it has contributed to the growth of the Australian economy.
Uber technologies affirmed that Clint Thomas, age 35, recently began working as an UberX driver after he served the Australian Air Force for 10 years. Clint stated, “I love the flexibility of being my own boss, while having the opportunity to earn a decent income while I look for something else.” He added that he is working for 50 hours on average and earns $1200-1300 weekly.
The CEO of the Australian Taxi Industry Association, Blair Davies, said, “On a national basis we haven’t seen a great shift in demand, and actually our number of rides have increased significantly overall, but when you look at it on a per shift basis in some cities rather than others it’s been more significant.” He added that Uber’s services are targeting drivers that might only offer their services during night, especially in Sydney and Melbourne.
Press sources indicated that the organizational growth details have been disclosed at time when it is battling against Australian Tax Office’s decision requiring its driving partners to collect GSTUber’s executives should devise strategies and implement them to ensure that it continues to operate in a similar manner or it might compromise on its dominating position.
