Amazon Introduces FBA Items As Contest Prizes For Amazon Giveaway Users

Amazon provides opportunity to Giveaway users to use 'Fulfillment by Amazon' items as contest prizes.

Amazon announced on March 1, 2016 that now the items and Kindle eBooks can be won as contest prizes by those who are availing a free facility ‘Amazon Giveaway’. This service allows organizers to run promotional contests across the web to create buzz regarding their brands and to extend their presence on the social media.
The American e-commerce company has added millions of ‘Fulfillment by Amazon’ items and Kindle eBooks as prizes for organizers of the contest. Not every product offered on the company’s marketplace is eligible for its Giveaway program, but this has added to the options.
FBA sellers (who may also be the organizers of the contest) will also be helped by the addition to increase product exposure and sales. Just over a year old, Giveaway program has attracted mostly artists, marketers, bloggers and authors and contest entrants totaling at over 9 million, the company said in its new release.
The Giveaways, which the online retailer runs, can work one of two ways – with the selection of winners on a first-come, first-served basis or with a pre-set lucky number, (for instance every 25th person who enters the contest wins a prize).
Organizers can select up to 50 products of the Seattle-based organization’s merchandise worth $5000 as prizes. The online trading giant verifies entrants’ identities and prevents many entries by having contest hopefuls sign into its website.
This indicates that organizers of contest cannot hold the contest on a page owned by them, a link needs to be sent by them to entrants about the contest hosted by them on the website of Amazon. Once the verification is done, entrants see an animated Amazon box.
The entrants click on the box to disclose whether they win or not. During the week of contest, visitors visiting the product pages to avail the prizes offered by the giveaway program rise by over 40% on a weekly basis, Amazon said.
A Giveaway’s feature is that prize-seekers can be required by it to follow the organizer of the contest on social networks to get eligible to get a prize. Up till now, more than 2.8 million new followers have been generated by this feature on Twitter.
Similarly, Amazon launched an author specific feature in December, where contest entrants are required by authors who are users of Giveaway to follow their books on the platform. Since its launch, the feature has generated new author follows (approximately 300,000).
