Uber Changes Its Privacy Policy

The American taxi service has amended its privacy policy by employing the services of several 'privacy' experts.

Uber has amended its privacy policy. Uber news reported that the firm has reacted to criticism by proclaiming that it has reformed its secrecy policies and made them convenient and simple to comprehend. The transporter employs a smartphone application to connect driving partners with passengers.
The press condemned the company for claiming that its feature, God View, could locate a journalist without his/her knowledge. Uber news today informed that the firm has decided to benefit from the services of a privacy expert.
The employed expert has been tasked to review policies and recommend measures. The newly appointed professional has proved to be useful for the organization, as she has developed new policies that concisely address the information demanded by the company.
Uber technologies affirmed that its managing counsel of data privacy, Katherine Tassi, has stated that the users would now be permitted to make ‘information-sharing’ decisions. She added that the new policies would help the company to launch new promotional features as well.
Company sources have revealed that Uber had employed the services of privacy specialist, Harriet Pearson. The expert has advised to simplify the controversial policies. The cab service has accepted her advice, as it has halved the content of its privacy statements.
It is expected that the newly developed secrecy programs would permit Uber to ask for access to the rider’s geographical position. Media sources have highlighted that in case of geographic tracking, the organization has pledged not to keep a record of previous trips. The new measures would be effective from 15th July.
Uber’s customers do not need to do anything for supporting the new updates. Its management has stated that the use of the application on or after that date would inform the company about the rejection or acceptance of the new terms.
Experts stated that the policy change indicates that the firm recognizes the importance of public perception, which is often shaped by media’s efforts. It has also decided to consult another expert and recently hired privacy professional, Sabina Ross.
Ms. Ross is asked to handle the company’s regulatory policy issues. It is probable that its customers would not only acknowledge the new changes but also welcome them as these changes have empowered them over the privacy issues.
Uber has employed the services of several specialists to ensure better performance and integrity. It should now develop strategies and take steps to implement the new policies in the best possible manner, or its efforts might not be successful.
