Huawei standouts by introducing liquid resistant P8 and P8 Max
Huawei announces to upgrade its flagship smartphones, P8 and P8 Max with the latest P2i technology – proven to protect smartphones and other electronics devices from liquid damages and general wear and tear.
Huawei launched its flagship smartphones last month on April 15 in London, United Kingdom in an unveiling event. The company boasted of its latest flagship phones and their extended functionality with a unique style.
United Kingdom – based technology company, P2i claims of shielding electronic devices, from liquid damage by its patented pulsed plasma method to provide a hydrophobic nano-coating on smartphones and an array of other electronics devices.
The company claims to not only provide nanotechnology to electronics devices but to at least five other different segments, such as; air filtration companies, application of the technology to an array of materials ranging from clothes to shoes to many other lifestyle products and also to military institutions amongst others.
In the April launch, the Shenzhen, China based smartphone maker showed-off the P8 and P8 Max. The P8 model houses a Quad-core 2 gigahertz (GHz) processor, while running on Google Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Android operating system (OS), Lollipop 5.0.2 version.
For value added features, P8 includes internal memory capacity of three gigabyte (GB), with external memory allowing up to 128 GB microSD card. The more upscale, P8 Max, smartphone features dual SIM capability, allowing for stand-by nano SIM card. Although the P8 Max model embeds an touted Quad-core 2.2 GHz processor – but runs on the same OS.
It is important to note that the P2i technology does not waterproof the device, but merely adds an extra layer of protection to protect from regular wear and tear, and everyday mishaps and accidents such as humidity, spills and splashes. By adding the P2i to their smartphones, Huawei’s phones standout with an exclusive selling point.
P2i was established in 2004, by acquiring patents from the Defense Science & Technology Laboratory in the UK to begin mass production and commercialize the technology. P2i which not only has offices in the UK but in US and China as well claims of improving production volumes which have tripled in the past year.
A recent study from the Pew Research Center found that the percentage of Americans who own a smartphone has increased manifold; it was at 64% last year and has almost doubled since 2011. According to the research, smartphone users have had to suspend their accounts for financial reasons, 15% of these individuals have reached the maximum limit in their data packages.
Out of the surveyed candidates, 15% had a smartphone with limited access to the Internet from another device while majority of them do not have a broadband connection at home. Pew researchers concluded that almost one in every 14 Americans rely entirely on smartphones, having no source of high speed Internet at home or anywhere else; young adults make up most of this population.
