Yahoo is interested in acquiring a news-launching platform. Yahoo news reported that the company is holding talks to purchase the mobile news-reading application, Flipboard.
The negotiations are being carried out with the pioneers of the Flipboard. The high-tech system is basically designed to gather news from publishers and social network sources. Yahoo news today informed that the product is capable of working like a digital magazine, as it demonstrates each and every element through an interface. The management of the company believes that the acquisition of the application would help it lure more users towards it with its interesting content.
Experts presented their view that the experience of the team of the application-development organization has played a significant role in attracting Yahoo’s chief executive officer, Marissa Mayer. The Flipboard CEO, Mike McCue, and cofounder, Evan Doll, are also well known.
Mr. McCue has successfully pioneered a voice identification setup, while Mr. Doll has served as a software engineer at Apple. The CEO’s services were also employed by Twitter. Company sources have highlighted that some internal tensions forced him to resign from the board of the social networking service.
Yahoo Breaking news affirmed that the talks with the creators failed, as both the parties were unable to jointly decide a price. The search engine service provider is not the only business interested in buying the product, as others have also tried to purchase it, such as Google and Twitter. The chief financial officer, Anthony Noto, is negotiating on behalf of Twitter and has been talking since the start of this year. Like Yahoo, the company has also failed to finalize a deal with the counterpart.
The management of Twitter is also impressed by news posting ability of the modern digital system. It is expected that if the news reading application is acquired by the microblogging platform, then the value of Flipboard would exceed $1,000,000,000.
Media sources have disclosed that the highly demanded organization, Flipboard, has grown quite rapidly after being established in the later part of 2010 and has been able to attract more than 60,000,000 users. It is expected that if the talks between the internet giant and company succeed, then Yahoo’s customers would be permitted to easily access online content.
A number of businesses and corporate giants have previously taken steps to launch news through their platforms. One of those is Facebook. The management of Yahoo should now take steps to satisfy Flipboard’s developer, or any other entity would acquire it.
