Take a closer look at the flagships from the top smartphone brands to see how they stack up against each other
This year the top Android manufacturers churned out these two amazing devices, the LG G4 and the HTC One M9. All three of these phones are far superior to any other Android-based smartphones in the market, but how do they stack up against one another? We’ve compiled a detailed list of features to compare these three powerhouses of the smartphone industry.
The best Android UI out there is in Google’s very own Nexus, which sports the vanilla Android experience but HTC’s One M9 comes a close second when it comes to a clean and modern design which is also uncluttered. The LG G4 isn’t bad either but doesn’t have the simplicity and elegance of the One M9.
LG’s G4 isn’t much different from its predecessor, the G3. LG has replaced the back plastic so it doesn’t feel like a toy anymore. It still feels like a premium phone to hold but not much has changed since the last model.
The HTC One M9 is very easily the most beautifully designed phone in the market right now, the metallic uni-body with the curved edges is just something that sets it apart from the rest. Which is precisely why HTC has kept the design stagnant for the past three years.
Hardware is always one of the deciding factors when choosing a phone. All three phones carry 3 GBs of RAM but have different processors. With the Galaxy S6 being the superior model, housing the latest Exynos 7420 which is a far superior processor than the ones in the other two phones. The LG G4 carries the Snapdragon 808 processor while the HTC One M9 sports the Snapdragon 810, and the comparison between the two is too close to call. So in terms of hardware and processing power, the Galaxy S6 takes the cake.
The LG G4 comes a close second with its 5.5 inch 1440x2560 Quantum IPS display. HTC didn’t pay much attention to displays this year, the HTC One M9 comes with a 1920x1080 Super LCD3 display, which falls way behind its competitors.
LG G4 really comes out ahead in this one because LG properly revamped the camera on the G4. It has a 16MP camera with an aperture of f/1.8 which is also capable of shooting RAW images to be processed later. The front-facing camera on the G4 is 8MP, which is far better than the competition.
The HTC One M9 has a 20.7MP rear camera but the shots taken don't really compare to the other two phones when it comes to sharpness and detail. The front-facing camera is an impressive 4 UltraPixel camera which was the rear-camera on the HTC One M8, the front-cam allows for some great selfies, especially in the dark.
HTC One M9 wipes out the competition in this one, the sound production of this phone is beyond amazing. It comes with BoomSound technology, and it actually delivers a very satisfying mix of bass, mids and treble. The One M9 has the best speakers available on any smartphone right now.
LG G4 has the superior battery life here, housing a massive (and removable) 3000 mAh battery. It is still difficult to make the call that which phone dominated the market apart form the general existing giants.
