Internet of Things – A Vague Approach or Reality Of Near Future?

What if somebody told you that in near future, you will be living in a smart house? Yes, after smart watches and smart phones, the houses we live in are being made smart. On one side, virtual reality is seeing huge advancements and at the very same time, Internet of Things (IoT) is the new big thing.
Let’s first look into what actually IoT offers or aims to achieve. IoT basically breaks the rule of M2M communication. Machine-to-machine communication is generally the necessity of today’s world. We can only communicate with each other using devices i.e. mobiles, computers, tablets and etc. The idea is to break this convention by making an object itself a device which is able to communicate, sense, send/receive data via Internet. Internet has evolved from wired to wireless communication and now from wireless to machine-less communication. This definitely means that humans themselves have become a communicative device. The objects, living species, houses and almost everything can be used to communicate now. Not literally “Right now” but yes we are almost on the edge of experiencing it excessively. It will take a few years for it to be available for the entire world, imagine buying Microsoft’s Hololens as if it were a mobile phone.
There are a few prototypes and projects that have been introduced in the market. Google Glass, although not a very big hit but an acceptably huge break-through into the world of virtual reality, it has opened doors for many other ambitious personnel who want to develop such sensors and devices that practically prove IoT.
After Google tried its luck in Artificial Intelligence and VR with Google Glass, it is Microsoft’s time to amuse us. With Hololens and its “coming soon” video, Microsoft is proving as to why and how it is a major advancement as compared Google Glass.  Hololens is a pair of glasses you wear and let it do wonders to you then. From designing to learning and from watching to reading, it has all of it. You don’t necessarily need a computer to do all the tasks and even if you do, you are just going a step ahead of what everyone else is doing. But let’s wait till it is launched and we can analyze it better.
Lastly, we cannot forget the IoT 2015 at MWC 2015 at Barcelona; it had so much to offer. The world was astounded by all the ideas, prototypes and projects that were presented. HTC in cooperation with Valve launched HTC Vive at Mobile World Congress 2015 which was an eye-catcher throughout the event. You don’t need your smart phone for Virtual Reality experience but tethering to machine instead. Yes, you cannot just take it with you wherever you wish to but relatively it is another step towards portability. Imagine watching your favorite TV-shows and also playing games on it. Probably we all will have our own customized televisions.
