The recycling efforts and practices of LG have been awarded by ISRI.

The South Korean company, LG Electronics, has received good news, as it has been awarded by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). LG news reported that the institute has bestowed the ‘2015 Design for Recycling’ award to the corporate giant, which is given to appreciate the recycling abilities of its television products. The award is given yearly to the contributors of recycling and acknowledges the steps taken by manufacturers to incorporate the recycling principles of the body.
LG news today affirmed that the President of ISRI, Robin Wiener, has stated that he is proud to reward the recycling efforts of the organization. He further stated that the steps taken would not efficiently manage resources but would also improve the recyclability of its products. LG is appreciated for a number of products, such as 4K Ultra high definition OLED and LED televisions. The environment-friendly traits of the products encompass recyclable plastics, mercury free display panels, and BFR-free components.
Latest LG news highlighted that the management of the South Korean business has welcomed the reward, as the President of LG Electronics USA has stated his honor while receiving the award. He further stated that the objective of the ‘electronics manufacturer’ is to pioneer products that not only improve the lives of consumers, but also play a role in ‘saving the earth’.
LG will receive the award on 25th April. The award would be presented during the 2015 ISRI Convention and Exposition in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Some factors contribute in affecting the awarding decision of the institute, which include the absence of hazardous materials and the presence of a maximum amount of recyclable materials.
ISPRI has maintained the awarding record for the past 25 years. It previously rewarded Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Cascade Fine Papers Group, The Herman Miller Company, Wind Simplicity, and Coca-Cola Company. The Institute is known to voice the concerns of the recycling industry. It represents more than 1600 entities in 21 chapters nationwide that make use of a number of scrap commodities, such as paper, plastics, glass, rubber, metals, textiles, and electronics. The headquarters of the institute is located in Washington.
The awarding body also promotes awareness regarding the role played by the recycling behavior of the organizations. Its mission is to play its part in implementing sustainable practices. Now, it is yet to be seen that to what extent the award is able to partake in initiating the recycling behavior of other corporations.
