Toyota Plans Prius Comeback

Latest Toyota news is regarding the company trying to revolutionize and recreate the Prius model which had been on top in the country for a long time until there was Accord Hybrid by Honda.
The company and the car, both are at a turning point as the company decides to reengineer and redesign the model later this year. The car had been introduced in 1997 and the buzz is that it isn’t the hybrid car anymore. The shift has been made to Tesla’s electric cars.
The success of Toyota in creating a feasible market for the (once) revolutionary gas-electric cars has now inspired slate of challengers that includes latest hybrids in the showrooms belonging to Toyota even.
The Prius does not boast the cutting-edge technology anymore. That has now belonged to Mirai which is hydrogen-powered supported by President Akio Toyoda.
Group VP of marketing sector of Toyota said, "Prius will become more main stream. The Mirai gives us a chance to say what the future is even further out."
The newly planned recreation of Prius is said to be the first palpable conclusion of Toyota New Global Architecture also known as TNGA which is billed by Toyoda as rethink of Toyota’s business model, as reported by Toyota news. There will be numerous vehicles sharing the similar components and underpinnings. For instance, air conditioner of Denso Corp. or seat structures associated with Johnson Controls Inc.
The main aim is to cut the costs up to 20 or 30 percent; this percentage saved by the company shall be utilized in order to eradicate the perception of the company’s cars being bored. If the prototype that the company showed to the U.S dealers gets built then it shall epitomize the company’s push for rides that are more exciting. The AutoNation Inc. CEO says, "here you have one of the most technologically advanced cars, packaged in one of the most boring designs in the history of mankind.”
According to him, the company is trying to bring moderation in the next generation of Prius however.
There has been couple of debates going inside Toyota over the fact that whether the company is deciding to go in the opposite direction of how the familiar pioneering design and look hybrid model has or not.
As far as the design is considered, for the most part, it shall remain intact however the changes are considered to be strong in the next generation.
The longest period of seven years is there for Prius to be revamped and has gone for this long without any major changes to offer.
